THE ROOT: Wheeled Warriors FAQ: Monster Minds

The Monster Minds
How were the Monster Minds created?
Why are they called Monster Minds?
It best describes what they are -- evil mutated plant-brains that control vehicles and vines. They are certainly monstrous, and their brains are the worst part. (Lizzard's Note: Just look at Saw Boss' big ugly head for proof of that.) It should also be noted that the name was coined by Mattel for the toy line, in which the evil vehicles came with a removable plastic brain.
What's the difference between a Monster Mind and a Monster Mind trooper?
The original Monster Minds are those creatures that were created in Audric's laboratory. The troopers are the mass-produced clones of the original Monster Minds. They are the soldiers of the war against the Lightning League. Though they are often called Monster Minds for short, they are really just the clones that carry out the wishes of the real Monster Minds. Only the original Monster Minds have humanoid forms.
What are the names of all the Monster Minds?
The original Monster Minds (those created by radiation in Audric's lab) are Saw Boss, Beast Walker, Gun Grinner, K.O. Kruiser, and Terror Tank. Later, Battle Station, Flap Jack, Lurcher, and Snap Dragon were created. However, it is debatable whether these last four vehicles posses their own minds. They have never been seen in humanoid form and have never spoken or acted on their own. As for the Monster Mind troopers, they are either given their prototype's name or are specifically designated as troopers by combining the first part of their prototype's name with the word "trooper." Thus they are often called Gun Trooper, Saw Trooper, Terror Trooper, etc. It should be noted that in one of the Wheeled Warriors Golden Books, Battle Station is called Launch Base, but this never occurs again.
What are the Monster Mind vehicles' special features?
All of the vehicles have certain standard equipment and weaponry. In addition, they each have at least one unique design feature. The Saw Trooper's main feature is a large maneuverable buzz saw. Gun Grinner holds a gun between his teeth and sports a bolo-whip on top. K.O. Kruiser has a wrecking ball. Terror Troopers have a nasty "chomper" extension. Battle Station is a movable fortress, while Beast Walker is a large walking transport. Snap Dragon has a tractor beam. Flap Jack uses a catapult-like feature to launch special Blossom Pods. Lurcher rams into things and shoots high-powered streams of water. For more details on these features and the standard weaponry, please refer to The Root's Vehicles department.
