The Lightning League Vehicles

What are the names of all the Lightning League vehicles?

What are the Lightning League vehicles' special features?

All of the vehicles come with certain standard equipment and weaponry. In addition, they each have at least one unique design feature. Armed Force's special feature is its mechanical grabber claw. Drill Sergeant has a tunneling apparatus. Quick Draw has a "secret gun," and Spike Trike has a maneuverable spiked wheel in front. Trail Blazer is a large walking transport, and Battle Base is a movable fortress. Fling Shot is equipped with a catapult, and Spray Gunner is able to shoot liquids from its main gun. For more details on these features and the standard weaponry, please refer to The Root's Vehicles department.

Where did the vehicles come from?

Gillian created the original vehicles in the episode Escape from the Garden. It is Gillian who traditionally modifies and repairs the vehicles, although the others provide assistance. Fling Shot is introduced in Stallions of Sandeen and is presumably another creation of Gillian's. Spray Gunner appears mysteriously toward the end of the series. (Lizzard's Note: Perhaps this vehicle was bought at K-Mart.)

Do the League members have their own individual vehicles, or are they communally owned?

Jayce is the only one who "owns" a vehicle -- Armed Force. Armed Force was designed to be Audric's personal vehicle, but when he was not able to join the rest of the League members, it passed to Jayce. It is used almost exclusively by Jayce in the series, although occasionally he lends it to others. The other vehicles are not officially assigned to or owned by individual members. However, it should be noted that the League members do seem to express certain preferences. Flora and Gillian often drive Drill Sergeant and Herc frequently drives Spike Trike.

What is this Stack 'N' Attack nonsense all about?

The vehicles were designed with Stack 'N' Attack weapons. In other words, the weapons on the vehicles are interchangeable and can be stacked on top of one another, allowing firepower to be increased and altered as needed. Stack 'n' attack was originally a feature of the toy line and was worked into the series in order to fulfill advertising obligations to Mattel.

Why is the Lighting League's barge called the Pride of the Skies II? What happened to the original Pride?

In Escape from the Garden, Herc introduces his ship as the Pride of the Skies. It was only in later episodes that the suffix "II" was added. Presumably the "II" refers to the fact that the ship has been modified from its original version, possibly by Gillian. (Lizzard's Note: The pesky geezer just can't keep his paws off anything mechanical!)
