Audric

Occupation:   Scientist

Known Relatives:   Jayce (son) and Flora (creation/adopted daughter)

Equipment:

  • The Root: Both halves of the Root are attuned to Audric's life-force. His half will react whenever Jayce's half is nearby, and vice versa. He keeps his half hidden on himself or in a safe place. The Roots are kept alive through their own magic. Both halves of the Root, when joined together, have the power to permanently stop Saw Boss and the Monster Minds.

  • Scientific Gadgets: He keeps any number of machines close by to aid him in escaping from the Monster Minds. These include everything from spaceships to traps to weapons.

  • Teleporter: Audric uses a teleporter in Underwater, Underpaid to escape from his ship after it sinks beneath a deep lake. Gillian later retrieves the teleporter and accesses its stored data to find out where Audric went. The teleporter looks like a ray-gun with a triangular barrel, and has a small keypad on one side.

Appearance:

Audric is a human male who appears to be in his late thirties to early fifties. He has blue eyes, long dark brown hair with a white streak down the middle, a dark brown moustache and beard, and an average build. His face has a noble yet worn look, reflecting the hardships he has been through. Audric wears a belted long-sleeved red tunic with a long dark blue vest, light tan pants, and brown boots. His tunic has a low-slung gold collar with a white shirt showing above it. He's someone who has to constantly look over his shoulder for danger.

Strengths:

Audric is one of the best scientists, inventors, and intellects in the universe. With enough time and the proper components, he can literally build anything. He also has leadership, medical, piloting, and survival skills. Audric has many contacts in the universal scientific community and also on some of the planets he has visited. He can always count on Jal Gorda, his friend in the espionage business. Audric is well-traveled and knows how to take care of himself. He has compassion, an iron will, and determination to set things right. Like his son Jayce, Audric never gives up hope.

Weaknesses:

Audric is constantly hunted by the Monster Minds, and anyone who helps him usually feels their wrath as well. He can never truly rest until they are destroyed once and for all. Audric also has an enemy in Dr. Zorg, who is "his most bitter rival in the scientific field," to quote Gillian in Double Agent Zorg.

History:

Audric is one of the greatest scientists in the universe, a good man whose experiment to help others went terribly wrong.

Gillian raised him, and the two are now good friends. Before the Monster Minds came, Audric's planet was home to a peaceful, technologically advanced civilization. Audric went to a good school there, and became known as a great pilot before turning his interest towards science. He became known as an exceptional scientist. During his extraordinary career he founded the Geddon IV Brain Trust Complex (where he did much of his early research), studied the Edro Lifeship, conducted research at the Great Library of Hebron, and ultimately earned the envy and the enmity of Dr. Zorg. With Gillian's help, Audric created Flora from an orchid. He also created Brock, the flying fish.

Audric eventually decided to work in his own research facility in another galaxy, on a world that orbited four suns. This was the perfect place to do experiments on plants. With the help of his Eternal Squire, Oon, he set out to create a plant that could grow in any terrain and produce food (thus eliminating hunger in the universe). Just as he succeeded, a wave of radiation erupted from one of the nearby suns and washed over the planet's surface. The radiation mutated the hunger-eliminating plant into Saw Boss, and the other plants in the laboratory turned into the rest of the Monster Minds. Audric and Oon were forced to flee for their lives. The Monster Minds turned his facility into their headquarters and set out to conquer other worlds, draining all of their minerals and water.

Audric created the magic Root that has the power to stop them, but the Monster Minds attacked before he could graft the two halves together. He gave one half to Oon and asked him to take it to Jayce, his son, and tell him what happened. Oon was also told to serve Jayce as his new master. They separated and escaped, each with one half of the Root.

Audric then began his journeys throughout the universe, helping those who suffer under the Monster Minds' rule and leaving clues to help Jayce find him. He saved Jal Gorda after his village was destroyed by the Monster Minds, and in gratitude Jal later worked as a spy for him and the Lightning League. There have been several near-meetings of father and son, such as on Epsilon IX and the Green Planet. In the fifth episode of the Liberty Stone mini-series, a magic-draining pyramid teleported Audric and Jayce to its location in order to steal the Root's power. However, when the dimensional void collapsed they were returned to their previous locations. Audric found Jayce on the Circus Planet, but right before they embraced a malfunctioning teleportation machine emitted a ray that sent him someplace else.

    Audric's current whereabouts are unknown.
