Leese

Appeared In:   Soultree

Occupation:   Eternal Squire

Known Relatives:

    Squiresmith Wixland (creator)
    The Council of Twelve
Oon and Other Eternal Squires (fellow creations)

Equipment:

Leese has a lance-like weapon that can be used as a lance, shield, spear, and sword for combat and defense. It has a dark grey handle and two light grey shafts (a large one above the handle for fighting, and a smaller one below the handle that acts as a sort of floor rest). There is a horizontal light orange stripe near the wide edge of each shaft.

Special Powers:

  • Attuned Senses: Leese's senses are linked to those of her master, currently Irradel. This allows her to detect whenever someone or something is trying to mentally dominate Irradel. It also allows her to sense when her mistress is doing something wrong, even though she can't always put her finger on exactly what is so wrong about it.

  • High-Gravity Immunity: Like Oon, Leese can move about on high-gravity worlds without suffering damage from the effects of heavy air pressure. She is never seen doing this in the series, but all Eternal Squires have the ability.

  • Inner Storage: Like Oon, Leese has hollow armor that allows her to store objects in its empty spaces. She is never seen doing this in the series, but all Eternal Squires have the ability.

Appearance:

Leese is a small suit of living armor. She has black eyes with no visible pupils or irises. Her eyes, though metal, have the mysterious ability to change shape according to her mood. Leese wears two yellow plumes on the sides of her head like pigtails. Her shoulder plates, gauntlets, belt, and feet are red. Her torso/tunic is deep orange. She has a yellow-brown upper faceplate. The rest of her legs, arms, and head are off-white with a few blue-grey stripes. She is usually seen carrying her lance. She is constantly alert for trouble, and this shows in both her expression and stance.

Strengths:

Leese is quite courageous. She takes her duties as an Eternal Squire very seriously, and is more than willing to use her lance in battle. Leese is completely loyal to her mistress Irradel and will do anything for her. However, Leese possesses a strong will of her own. If something seems wrong, then she will investigate -- with or without her mistress' approval! Leese can make incredible leaps, and is able to jump onto fast-moving vehicles as they pass.

Weaknesses:

Since Leese's body is made out of metal, it is vulnerable to magnetism, rusting, and general wear and tear. Leese can be a bit single-minded in her service to Irradel.

History:

Leese is a living suit of armor created by Squiresmith Wixland to be an Eternal Squire. Eternal Squires serve only people of good intent. Thus, only the truest and most honest people in the universe have Eternal Squires.

Leese's most recent mistress is Irradel, guardian of the magical Soultree. When Saw Boss contacted Irradel to suggest an alliance, she agreed. She even went so far as capture the Lightning League for him, believing his lies about them.

Leese knew that something was wrong with the situation when she saw Oon. As an Eternal Squire, he could never serve evil. Irradel explained to Leese that the League had supposedly "corrupted many an innocent," but Leese wasn't totally convinced. Her uneasiness grew when she saw the Monster Mind vehicles approaching. Her mistress was oblivious to everything.

Leese freed the League in time for them to save Irradel and the Root from Saw Boss' clutches. Leese performed well in the battle that took place afterwards.

After the fighting ended, Leese kissed Oon, who promptly collapsed with a silly grin on his face. Leese stated with some puzzlement: "For an Eternal Squire, he is certainly odd."
