Perawon
Appeared In:   The Sleeping Princess
Occupation:   Wizard and Would-Be Ruler
Equipment:
- Castle:
Perawon uses a castle as his base of operations. The castle has a large garrison of guards residing there. On the whole, the castle is a gloomy place. Perawon is apparently too busy scheming to decorate.
- Guards:
Expressionless humanoid sentinels in violet and white armor. They carry swords, wear long-horned helmets, and operate in pairs of two. The guards are loyal only to Perawon and obey his every command.
Special Powers:
Magical Powers: Perawon is an ambitious novice wizard who twists his powers towards destructive and selfish ends. His mystical powers come from within himself, meaning that he doesn't need an outside source of energy to use his limited magic. He seems to prefer striking at a distance so that no one can identify him as the attacker. He also seems to prefer stabbing people in the back rather than giving them a fair fight. Perawon uses elementalism, enchantments, dark sorcery, and spells.
Through his magic, he has been known to...
* Bind victims with energy.
* Break open huge chasms in the ground.
* Cast sleep-spells on people, putting them in suspended animation.
* Cause pointed reddish stalagmites to erupt from the earth like huge daggers to impale people and vehicles.
* Contact others telepathically, on- and off-world.
* Cause earthquakes.
* Shoot force beams.
* Throw lightning bolts.
He accesses his magical energies by chanting and concentrating. Perawon's magic is sometimes accompanied by a red, violet, and black whirlpool of energy swirling behind him.
Appearance:
Perawon appears to be in his early forties. He has short, thick grey hair, blue eyes, and a medium build. He wears a black bodysuit, black tunic, black collared half-cape with a red interior, dark red gloves, dark red knee-high boots, and a necklace of silver disks that reaches to mid-chest. Both his tunic and his cape have red borders. Perawon's face has a cold, hard, arrogant look.
Strengths:
Perawon has some magical knowledge -- just enough to cause a lot of trouble. He is very good at deceiving others. After enchanting the Princess Kiandra into an unnatural sleep, he ruled her planet. He is a harsh master of his castle and has guards that carry out his every whim. (Lizzard's Note: He isn't too bad to look at, either.)
Weaknesses:
Perawon is only a novice wizard, and is therefore no match for the likes of Gillian in magical combat. Another wizard can tell he is one on sight, as well as if any magics in the area were cast by him. If Perawon's hands are bound, he cannot use his magic. He is vulnerable to the effects of certain mystical objects, such as the Ring of Light and Gillian's magic mirror. Even when he is at his best, Perawon's magic spells take a few seconds to activate. In battle, this loss of time can be fatal.
History:
Perawon served as a wizard under Princess Kiandra's rule on a planet of telepathic plants. Greedy and self-serving, he enchanted her with a sleep-spell that could not be broken by anyone but himself. With Kiandra out of the way, he stepped in as ruler. The plants began to die because their psychic harmony with the Princess was broken by her magical slumber.
When the Lightning League came to the planet in search of Audric, they found the sleeping Princess in a cave. Perawon observed them, and was pleased when Gillian could not wake her. But he was soon forced to flee when Gillian identified him as the wizard that cast the enchantment over the Princess.
Jayce and Oon took Drill Sergeant on a mission to capture the wizard. Perawon tried to kill them using his magic, but he was no match for Gillian's protective power. In desperation, Perawon made a deal with Saw Boss. In return for the Monster Minds' protection, he would capture Jayce.
After the League fought off the Monster Mind troopers that were attacking the Pride, Jayce and Oon returned to Perawon's castle for a second attempt to capture the magician. Jayce entered the castle, but wound up getting surrounded by the castle guards. Perawon tried to use his magic to imprison him, but the tables were turned when Jayce used to Ring of Light to bind him instead.
Perawon was taken back to the cave. Gillian hypnotized Perawon using a magic mirror, and from him learned the exact spell needed to break the enchantment over the Princess. Kiandra was awakened, and she and the League went on to save her world from the invading Monster Minds.
Perawon's final fate is unknown.
