"Bloodstone"
The Lightning League intercepted a Monster Mind message bubble sent from the planet Kyros. In it, a K.O. Trooper warned Saw Boss not to send any more forces to the planet because everything (including the trooper himself) was turning into crystal. The League went to Kyros to determine if the crystallization process could be used as a new weapon against the Monster Minds.
Upon arriving, the League found that everything on the planet was covered in sparkling white crystal. An enormous pyramid loomed over the landscape. The Pride's front laser cut through a weak spot in the pyramid in order to gain entrance. Amazingly, the crystal repaired itself after they tunneled inside. Inside the pyramid, the League found an entire city made up of various levels connected by ramps. The upper areas look normal, while the lower ones have been crystallized. They discovered that the crystallization effect is slowly moving up the levels as the Pride and Brock became victims of the process.
The Keeper, Khyron, a native who appeared to be a priest of some sort, urged the League to move to the upper levels. In his garden, he related how the Monster Minds came to the planet and were crystallized. He also explained that afterward, Saw Boss sent a giant spider to drain the Bloodstone's energy. The Bloodstone was the only thing keeping the city in the pyramid from being turned into crystal. The weaker the Bloodstone got, the less power it had to hold back the planet's natural crystallization process. The Keeper told Jayce that "only the touch of a hero" could restore the Bloodstone to its full strength and revert everything to normal. The Keeper was then grabbed by a Gun Trooper, and both turned into crystal as the effect moved higher.
The Lightning League members battled the Monster Mind vehicles that controlled the uncrystallized upper levels in an effort to reach safety. One by one, Gillian, Flora, Herc, and their vehicles turned into crystal. Jayce swore that he would return everything to normal. He defeated the remaining Monster Minds and then began the process of gaining access to the Bloodstone's chamber. He and Oon had to pass three tests before they could reach the Bloodstone -- escaping from a swiftly-flooding room, dodging falling trees in a forest, and crossing an unstable bridge. When they finally reached the interior of the Bloodstone's stone monument, Oon became trapped inside a prison of falling stalactites. He threw his magic lance to Jayce and saluted himm then turned into crystal. Jayce defeated Saw Boss' spider with the help of Oon's lance and the Ring of Light. He touched the Bloodstone right before the crystal overtook him, saying: "Take my life energy, Bloodstone. I give it freely. Save my friends, and your people."
The Bloodstone erupted in a massive burst of energy that returned everything to its normal state. The Lightning League was restored, the Monster Minds retreated, and Kyros was saved.
Flora: "HERC! We're in danger! There are Monster Minds nearby -- I can feel it!"
Herc: "Naaah, nearest vine's a lightyear from here!"
Jayce: "Don't be too sure -- sometimes Flora's better than radar."
Herc: "What in the Seven Galaxies was that?!"
K.O. Trooper (recorded message): "Exalted Leader, Saw Boss, the situation on planet Kyros is critical! They have some kind of weapon which turns us to crystal! I am the last surviving trooper! Excellency, you must not send any more of us to Kyros! The weapon in the pyramid is UNSTOPPABLE!"
Flora: "*Gasp!* That crystal pyramid -- it's so beautiful!"
Gillian: "And evidentally contains a weapon deadly to Monster Minds."
Jayce: "A weapon we've GOT to have!"
Herc: "NOW, wait a minute, hotshot! What if whoever lives on Kyros decides to turn us to crystal?"
Jayce: "We've got to chance it!"
Gillian: "Jayce is right, Herc. Such a weapon would guarantee the success of our quest. And once our quest is completed..."
Herc: "I know; then I get PAID!"
Gun Trooper: "Saw Boss, Lord of the Universe, they've taken the bait!"
Saw Boss: "Is everything prepared?"
Gun Trooper: "Yes, Great One. Our troopers are hidden inside the pyramid! The lethal spider is ready!"
Saw Boss: "My plan is foolproof! Soon Jayce and the Root will be destroyed."
Herc: "Wow! A great place, if you're starting a crystal collection! I don't like it, Jayce."
Flora: "It's so quiet! Even the people are crystal."
Herc: "Galloping Galaxies, the Pride is turning to crystal!"
Khyron: "Quickly, this way! I've been in the library; good thing I heard you in time. The Bloodstone is losing power faster now! You are in mortal danger on that level! Come up; use the ramps!"
Herc: "'Come up,' he says! Hah, sooner or later, we'll have to go down!"
Herc: "What in the cosmos is going on pal?! My ship has just been turned into a work of fine art!"
Khyron: "I am Khyron, Keeper of the Bloodstone. It is both good and bad that you have come."
Herc: "Huh, wonderful -- good news, and bad news!"
Khyron: "Good, because you may be able to save all of us. And bad, because if you don't, we'll all turn to crystal."
Khyron: "I was in these upper precincts when the Bloodstone was attacked!"
Gillian: "The 'Bloodstone?'"
Jayce: "What's that?"
Khyron: "The most ancient and precious object on Kyros. For centuries, the protective power of the Bloodstone has kept everything inside this pyramid from becoming crystal, like the rest of our planet."
Khyron: "I fled for help... but it was too late. The damage had started; the spider was draining energy from the Bloodstone!"
Gillian: "And, as the energy drains, the crystallization process moves upward, towards the stone!"
Khyron: "Strange, monstrous vehicles brought the spider; they now control the upper levels, protecting it."
Gun Trooper: "Lord Saw Boss, Conqueror of the Universe, it is only a matter of time before they are all turned to crystal, including the Root!"
Saw Boss: "Time is not a friend to those to wait! ATTACK! Force them down to the lowest levels -- I shall have Jayce and that Root for a statue!"
Khyron: "By restoring the power of the Bloodstone, everything will return to normal again, return to life!"
Jayce: "To the vehicles -- Battle Mode!"
(The Lightning League and Khyron race towards them, dodging Monster Mind fire)
Khyron: "JAYCE! You are a brave man! You can save my people!"
Jayce: "But how?"
Khyron: "The Bloodstone... you must reach it, renew its energy! Only one with great courage... AHHH!"
(After Khyron gets snagged by a Gun Trooper, Jayce runs after him)
Jayce: "Keeper!"
Khyron: "...Can pass the trial that guards the Bloodstone! Only the touch of a hero, AHHH, will revive it!"
Jayce: "Saw Boss wants them to push us to the lower levels so we'll all turn to crystal -- but I won't let him win! I CAN'T!"
(After Gillian saves Herc from being turned into crystal, he suffers that fate)
Jayce: "GILLIAN! Gillian...!"
Gillian (telepathically): "Don't fear for me, Jayce... use all your skill and courage! Only you can restore us all!"
Herc (comforting a grieving Flora): "Don't look back... we've gotta keep going! (As the troopers close in on them) Hang on, honey! Time for some fancy navigating!"
(As Drill Sergeant turns into crystal, with Herc and Flora inside)
Herc: "Too late for us, hotshot -- never thought I'd end up a museum piece. It's up to you!"
Flora: "Good luck, Ja-"
(Looking extremely ticked, Jayce speeds Armed Force towards the upper levels)
Oon: "Flora -- Herc! Can't we help them?"
Jayce: "There's only one way -- restore the Bloodstone, and I SWEAR I'll do it!"
Oon (courageously): "I'll be brave, Master. Here -- my Magic Lance will help you!"
(After throwing it to Jayce, Oon salutes him as he's turned to crystal)
Jayce (sadly): "Oon, my friend...! The Bloodstone! I MUST restore it!"
Jayce: "I won't let you stop me!"
Saw Boss (speaking through the spider): "I knew your compassion would be your downfall, boy!"
Jayce: "You're wrong! Compassion is my strength -- one you'll never know!"
Jayce: "Take my life energy, Bloodstone -- I give it freely. Save my friends, and your people!"
Flora: "HE DID IT! Jayce made it!"
Herc: "YEAH, that's one for the kid!"
Khyron: "Jayce, you are indeed a worthy son to your father, Audric. Your bravery is matched by something even more rare -- your compassion."
Jayce: "My father always said that 'compassion is one of the noblest virtues.'"
Herc: "Ahhh, speaking of your father, hotshot -- let's go!"
Jayce: "Herc, don't tell me you're finally getting into the spirit of our quest!"
Herc: "Aw c'mon, are you kidding? I just wanna get paid!"
