Children of Solarus II

Jayce's Root was withering, and would die soon if not helped. Its best chance for survival lay in the healing winds of Solarus II, which were known for their amazing curative powers.

In the past, the noble civilization of Solarus II harnessed the raging ion tornadoes native to the planet into wind channels. They then opened their planet to the galaxy's sick and infirm. But the Monster Minds destroyed the civilization on Solarus II. The winds were then used to make Monster Mind forces stronger.

Jayce decided to risk the danger and travel to Solarus II in order to heal the Root. He took Oon along because his armor had become old and worn, needing some serious rejuvenation. Using the Space Scooter, the pair was able to reach the channels, but the Monster Mind guards were too numerous for them to get close to the healing winds. Suddenly, the two were caught in a tractor beam and drawn into a mountainside, the portal closing just in time to block the pursuing vines.

There, a computer-generated hologram called the Guardian offered to help Jayce if he would take the hidden children of Solarus II to safety. In the process of rescuing the children, both the Root and Oon would be healed, as healing winds were pumped into the nursery. Jayce agreed and endured a few tests to prove himself. The Guardian, satisfied with Jayce's performance, gave him a map and the computer codes needed to enter the children's chamber. He then faded away, his task done as Monster Mind vines stormed the mountain, destroying the computers.

Jayce and Oon escaped, returning to the Pride. From there, Jayce and Gillian attempted to locate the secret nursery chamber. Much to their dismay, they discovered that the same computers destroyed by the vines had run the machinery that pumped healing winds into the chamber. After the children were taken safely into the Pride while the League repelled a Monster Mind attack, Jayce and Oon drove off in Armed Force to find another way to the winds.

They located a small opening in a mountainside. From there, they could get directly above the wind channels. While Oon and Herc battled incoming Monster Minds, Jayce called upon the Ring of Light to blast a hole in the wall of the nearest wind channel. The healing winds rushed out, blowing away the Monster Minds and curing the Root. Jayce raced back to Armed Force, finding that the freed winds had restored Oon the same way they had done for the Root.

The Lightning League deposited the children of Solarus II safely on a nearby planet, in the care of its native people. Upon reaching adulthood, they could use the knowledge of the ancients to rebuild civilization on their homeworld.
