"Darksinger"
The Monster Minds had taken over all the planets of a certain solar system save for Malabar I. Saw Boss ordered Monster Mind troopers to examine it to make sure that the world had nothing valuable to offer.
Meanwhile, the Lightning League scanned Malabar I for lifesigns, detecting two near the equator. They landed on the world to investigate and find a lush, verdant place "much like paradise." Its two inhabitants, Malory and his daughter Selena, lived in a huge white palace resembling the Taj Mahal. The pair explained that they searched for a long time until finding the perfect world on which to settle. When Jayce and the others tried to warn them about the Monster Minds, Selena retorted that "we can... take care of ourselves," and asked them to leave.
Back at the Pride, the barge's alarms sounded -- the short-range sensors detected Monster Minds nearby! Jayce rushed off to battle them, and Herc followed close behind. They defeated all of the enemy vehicles except one -- a Gun Trooper heading straight for the palace. Selena and her father watched from a high balcony. As the last trooper approached, she sang a song that caused it to turn into crystal and shatter.
The League members returned to the palace, where Malory explained Selena's power, an ability that has been passed down from mother to daughter for generations. With her gift, Selena could create or destroy anything simply by singing. (Lizzard's Note: Herc has the same gift, except instead of singing, he belches.) The pair had settled on Malabar I so that Selena's power could never be used for evil.
The League was again asked to leave, but Malory was soon captured by a Gun Trooper and taken to Saw Boss. Jayce, Oon, and Herc followed his kidnapper, battling Monster Mind vehicles en route. Gillian and Flora discovered that Selena leaving in an airship to rescue her father. They pursued her in another airship, but could not catch her. They rejoined the other League members just before Saw Boss and his forces arrived with Selena. Saw Boss ordered the singer to destroy the Lightning League.
She refused, and instead invoked the "Darksong," which would destroy the planet and everything on it. Mountains tore in half, massive mudslides flooded the plains, lightning split stormy skies, huge boulders crushed all in their paths, giant cracks tore the earth open, and gale-force winds battered the utopian world. As his forces were obliterated, Saw Boss fled back to his headquarters, teleporting away mere moments before an enormous mudslide would have consumed it.
The League approached Selena, who was drained after singing the "Darksong." Arriving on the scene, Malory suggested using the "Lifesong" to restore the world. Everyone lent Selena their strength so that she could accomplish this.
The planet was rejuvenated, but Selena lost her voice from the strain. It was a small price to pay for saving Malabar I. Before the League left, Malory assured them that in time Selena's voice would return.
Oon: "But since no-one's there, we don't have to stop. We can get far away from these Monster Minds, right Master?"
Herc: "Hey, for once you're thinking, Rustbrain!"
Oon: "Excuse me!"
Jayce: "Well, whoever they are, we have to warn them about the danger! Herc, take us..."
Herc: "I know, I know, 'Take us into danger for the ten zillionth time, Herc!' Sheesh!"
Saw Boss: "We never know what we'll find till we look in the right places."
(Upon seeing Malabar I's gorgeous Garden-of-Eden-like surface)
Jayce: "By the stars!"
Flora: "YAY!" (Runs down to soak it in)
Jayce: "Flora!"
Gillian: "It's no use, Jayce! You couldn't stop her if you tried! Remember, she was born of a flower -- to her, this must be much like paradise."
Flora: "YAY! WHEE! YIPPEE! YIPPEE!"
Herc: "If I didn't know better, I'd swear that that place was grown here, not built!"
Mallory: "And you'd be right, my friend."
Selena: "No matter who comes, we have nothing to fear from them. We can... take care of ourselves."
Herc: "Yeah? Well, Monster Minds aren't exactly visiting relatives, kid."
Jayce: "...If they don't want our help, we can't force it on them..."
Herc: "All right, baby, let's show them why we call you 'Quick Draw!'"
Saw Boss: "Yes, I see it! I see indeed! This girl's powers are the key to the final destruction of the Lightning League!"
Saw Boss: "That girl shall do my bidding, or she will never see her father again! Teleport to Malabar I!"
Mallory: "Capturing me will gain you nothing! I urge you to release me, for your own good!"
Saw Boss: "Your daughter will surrender, and she will sing for me!" (Cue evil laughter)
Herc: "In case it hadn't occured to you, kid, this is probably a trap!"
Jayce: "I'm counting on it, Herc."
Selena: "Before I would let you use me for evil, I would destroy this planet, myself... and you!"
Saw Boss: "You're bluffing."
Selena: "Listen closely to the last thing you will ever hear... the Song of Destruction... the Darksong!"
