"Future of the Future"
Gillian took the Lightning League into "the place where all time meets" so that Jayce can see his future, or more specifically, where he can find Audric. One moment the Pride was in space, and the next it rested on solid ground, surrounded by a field of mists.
Jayce and Gillian ventured out to meet the Guardian of the Portals of time. (Lizzard's Note: The Guardian looks like a big humanoid rhino in a robe, and he floats instead of walking. Hands up -- who think the writers were on drugs when they came up with this one?) Gillian gave the Guardian a magically-created prism of light as payment, which allowed Jayce to walk right on in. He was put through a unexpected test -- decide whether to rescue a girl hanging from a crumbling ledge or walk off with the Guardian to see his future. Despite multiple admonitions from the Guardian to leave her, plus being attacked by an ice-breathing dragon (who was turned into a melted puddle via Jayce deliberately summoning a fire-breathing phoenix from the Ring of Light), he ultimately chose to save the girl. In doing so, he passed the Test of Goodness and Courage, earning the right to see the future. Jayce and Gillian were allowed to see their future: Audric would be captured in a surprise move by the Monster Minds by having their headquarters teleport directly on top of him, then vanish with their prisoner inside.
Jayce swore that he wouldn't let it happen, and with encouragement from Gillian devised a plan to prevent that event from occurring. Jayce and Gillian travelled back to the Pride to find that it was being attacked by Monster Minds. After the enemy had been beaten back, Jayce asked Gillian to create a wall of light similar to the one that had surrounded his garden. (Lizzard's Note: See Escape from the Garden.) The wizard doubted that there was enough sunlight to adequately power the shielding spell, but was willing to try. Jayce drove out in Armed Force to confront the Monster Mind troopers surrounding the ship, offering to surrender only to Saw Boss himself. Saw Boss suspected it is a trap, but teleported his headquarters directly to Jayce's location anyway, unable to resist this opportunity.
Gillian could not conjure the light needed for Jayce's plan to work, so Jayce called upon the Ring of Light for aid. It emitted a powerful continuous burst of white light, throwing the Monster Mind vehicles into complete disarray and overloading the electronics within their headquarters. Saw Boss and his minions could not withstand the radiant energy of the intense light, teleporting away to save themselves.
Jayce had insured that the Monster Minds would never try to capture anyone again through that same direct method. The Lightning League could now forge a new future, one in which they would find Audric and stop the Monster Minds forever.
Jayce: "It's no use, Gillian! My father's trail is cold. He can be on any one of these planets!"
Oon: "My Master's right..."
Gillian: "Do not worry, Jayce! If Herc holds to the course I charted, you'll soon find out where Audric will be!"
Gillian: "Hmmm, needs a little something, ah... Flora, the mixture of sunlight and plant-light, please."
Herc: "Galloping Galaxies! Hey, aren't you a little old to be playing with firecrackers, Gillian?"
Gillian: "Playing? Playing?! This is a secret mixture of light known only to the wise men of the universe! It proves I'm qualified to bring someone to where we're going."
Gillian: "The place where all time meets is not on any chart! It's where all the light in the universe comes together at different speeds... to create a place where you can see the future."
Jayce: "The future! Then, I'll be able to see where my father is, and we can go to him!"
Oon: "Right! We can go to him! We CAN go to him!"
Flora (excitedly): "Oh, I can hardly WAIT!"
Herc (skeptically): "Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it."
Herc: "Hey, what's going on?! My instruments are going crazy!"
Jayce: "Herc, flash it on the main monitor screen! (The image of an enormous illuminated storm-cloud with multiple beams of light shooting out of it is revealed) That must be it!"
Herc (awed): "It sure ain't cotton candy, kid."
Gillian: "The place where all time meets... where the future awaits!"
Saw Boss: "So... the day has finally arrived for the old man to bring the boy there in his search for Audric. Only the privileged wizards ones of the universe may enter that place... but I too will see Jayce and Audric's future! Launch the electronic spy! Now, you young upstart, you're not the only one who will see the future!"
Herc: "Suuure, we'll hang tight while you look at your future! I just hope you have one... ahhh, so I get PAID, of course!"
Saw Boss: "They didn't take their ship in as I had anticipated. In that case, I'll prepare a special welcome for their return! Send the Drill Vines!"
Guardian: "Welcome to the Portals of Time, Travellers of the Pride of the Skies II!"
Gillian: "I have brought the Prism of Light, Guardian, may we enter?"
Guardian: "Yes, Wise One of the Universe -- enter!"
Guardian: "Have you told him he must face a test?"
Gillian: "Of course not! I know the rules! They haven't changed in the last thousand years... but I wish they had. Good luck, my boy."
Girl (standing on a crumbling ledge): "Please, help me! PLEASE HELP ME!"
Jayce: "Hang on, I'll save you!"
Guardian: "Wait, Jayce! If you don't come with me now, you'll lose your chance to see the future!"
Jayce: "B-But... she's calling for help! If I don't...!"
Guardian: "Let her be, Jayce!"
Girl: (The ledge crumbles away beneath her feet) "AHHHHHHH! (She grabs the remaining solid part with one hand at the last second) Please help me!"
Jayce: "I can't just leave her there!"
Herc (slicing at some rather viscious vines): "You creepy creeper!"
Herc (doing more of the same): "I hope Jayce is enjoying his future!"
Girl: "Help! Heeeeelp!"
Guardian: "Forget the child, Jayce. There's still time to see the future, but only if you come now!"
Girl: "Please help me!"
Jayce: "But I... NO! I can't leave her!"
Guardian: "You can proud of the boy, Gillian! He has passed the Test!"
Jayce: "'Test?'"
Gillian: "Yes, Jayce -- the Test of Goodness and Courage. You earned the right to see the future."
Guardian: "Go, Jayce! The future is that way."
Jayce: "I won't accept that as the future!"
Gillian: "Then change it, Jayce. You have the courage, you can do it!"
Jayce: "Father taught me that good is always stronger than evil."
Herc: "That'll slow them down, but it won't stop 'em."
Flora: "Then what?"
Herc: "We fight!"
Oon: "*Gulp* 'Fight?'"
Herc: "Here's mud in your eye!"
(Herc blinds a K.O. Trooper and hits a Gun Trooper with a Mind-Messer beam)
Flora: "YAAAAAAY! Get 'em, Herc!"
(The Gun Trooper slams into a Saw Trooper, knocking them both out, then Herc mind-messes a Terror Trooper into spinning aimlessly away)
Oon: "Almost as good as my Master would've done!"
Herc: "They're all over! And I'm adding the damage to the Pride to your bill!"
Jayce: "Listen, Herc, I have to change the future, or there won't be anybody around to pay you!"
Herc: "I take it your future was bad news. Well, what're you waiting for, kid?"
Jayce: "Spike Trike, Quick Draw, ready for attack!"
Spike Trike & Quick Draw: "Action being initiated!"
Herc: "What's that crazy hotshot doing?! Those K.O. Troopers will eat him for lunch!"
Jayce: "Wait! I agree to surrender, but only to Saw Boss in his Headquarters, leader to leader! Saw Boss, as master of the universe you deserve as much."
Saw Boss (speaking through a Gun Trooper): "You underestimate me, boy. Your wish is NOT my command!"
Jayce: "Very well, Saw Boss! I'll fight on and undoubtedly be destroyed, BUT... it'll be done by one of your ignorant, faceless troopers!"
Saw Boss (speaking through a Gun Trooper): "I warn you Jayce -- if this is a trick, as I suspect, you and your friends will suffer greatly before I DISPOSE of you!"
Flora: "Jayce doesn't mean it! He wouldn't give up!"
Herc: "I hope you're right, kiddo."
Saw Boss: "My destiny is at HAND!"
Saw Boss: "I've waited a long time for this moment. I claim my victory in the name of the Black Light!"
Jayce: "Symbol of the Lightning League, if ever you could help me, NOW'S the time! Ring of Light, Magic Might!"
(The Ring generates a titanic burst of magical white light that washes over every Monster Mind present)
Saw Boss: "The Light -- the accursed Light! It's too STRONG! In the name of the Black Light, I leave!"
Jayce: "Fire up the engines, Herc, we're leaving!"
Herc: "Now, wait a minute, pal! How can you be so sure you really changed the future? Saw Boss might be back!"
Jayce: "He'll always be back, but he'll never try to trap me in his headquarters again."
Oon: "That's right, never!"
Gillian: "You saved your father by changing the future, Jayce. Now it's up to you to forge a new future."
Herc: "I still say that place was a fake!"
Jayce: "No, I'm sure that what I saw would have been my future."
Flora: "I wish I could see my future."
Jayce: "It's not necessary, Flora. I've learned that our future is what we make of it. In my heart, I know we'll find Father. THAT'S our future."
