"Lifeship"

Saw Boss captured the insectoid scientist Dr. Yag to trick Jayce into helping him get the Edro Lifeship. No one knew who or what built the ship, what was inside, or even what its ultimate destination was. It had traveled in space for almost five thousand years, carrying an entire race of people. Audric studied it for months from outside and made a detailed tape about it. Jayce rescued Dr. Yag, who passed on Saw Boss' manufactured rumor that Audric was trapped inside. He also told Jayce that Saw Boss wanted the ship.

Jayce decided to go there after dropping Oon, Flora, and Dr. Yag off on the planet Vega for their own safety. At the last second, Flora grabbed Oon and flew Brock back on board the Pride.

As usual, Herc was hesitant about flying his ship straight into danger. He changed his mind after Gillian revealed that the Intergalactic Science Council had offered fifty thousand credits for more information about the Edro.

Jayce reprogramed the Pride navigational computer with information from Audric's tape. The tape revealed a narrow path of entry into the Lifeship, available only when the engines fired up, as a narrow path through the seething energy.

Gillian magically disguised the Pride as a piece of space debris, but Saw Boss saw through the illusion. He ordered his troopers to fire -- "but not too close" -- as the Flap Jacks flung Blossom Pods that stuck onto the Pride's underhull. The League survived the Monster Mind attack and successfully entered the Lifeship.

The Pride was caught in a tractor beam that carried it into the heart of a deserted city. The Blossom Pods fell off the barge and began growing Monster Mind troops. Flora and Oon revealed themselves just before Myrmidon, the holographic defender of the Edro, appeared. He stated that Audric was not on board, and ordered the Lightning League to leave.

Flora sensed the Monster Minds approaching, but for some reason Myrmidon did not. The League was forced to leave the Pride and venture out in the vehicles to fight off the enemy troops. After doing so, they were confronted by Myrmidon again. He threw a dampening field on the vehicles, totally shutting them down. Gillian used his magic to reactivate Drill Sergeant, which fired its electromags to disperse Myrmidon. The Monster Mind vehicles attacked again, and the League split up in order to get to the central tower and warn the Edro people.

Gillian and Flora arrived there first and were confronted by Myrmidon. He blasted Gillian aside but walked right through Flora as if she wasn't there. Jayce ordered Quick Draw to activate its deflection mode, using its shield to reflect Myrmidon's attack, dispersing his form once again.

Jayce had Oon stand guard outside while he, Flora, and Gillian explored inside the central tower. From Flora's experience, they realized that Myrmidon couldn't sense plants -- this is why he had not noticed the Monster Minds or Flora. Gillian and Flora journeyed on to reprogram the Edro's computer, giving it the ability to sense vegetation, while Jayce, Oon, and Herc held off the Monster Mind troops.

Just as they were about to be captured, Myrmidon appeared to blast the Monster Minds en masse with a force beam, punching them clear through the various levels of the Edro vessel. Myrmidon saluted the League, thanked them for their help, and then asked them to leave again. This time they agreed.

Once back in space, Gillian shared what he had learned. The Edro people's minds were encoded in the computer. Once they had arrived at their destination, their minds would be placed in new chemically-grown bodies. The Lifeship would become the Edro people's capital city when they landed on their new world.

The Pride left the Lifeship behind to continue the search for Audric.
