"Lightning Strikes Twice"
Written by J. Michael Straczynski
On a planet covered in ruins, Gillian discovered a cylindrical glowing capsule. It had been deliberately left behind by the members of the original Lightning League before they disappeared, and contained signs that showed where they went.
Gillian and Audric were two of the few people who could read the signs. Gillian opened the capsule with magic, chanting:
"Between the candle and the stars,
Between the storm cloud and the sun,
We ride the thunder!
Light against night!
From now until forever,
We are the Lightning League!"
Herc recognized the projected star system as Epsilon IX. The League travelled there to learn if Audric is on the planet. Upon arrival, they accidentally interfered in the "Games" used by the descendants of the original Lightning League to train themselves for battle. They were promptly arrested for their trouble.
Flora and Brock escaped, returning to the barge to protect it from the planet's soldiers. The others were taken to the Patriarch, leader of the rediscovered League. He revealed that Audric had indeed been there. However, he was labelled as a "troublemaker" for trying to warn them about the Monster Minds, to the extent that he had interfered with their "Games" and promptly banished. The others were placed in a prison cell beneath the palace where solid stone walls blocked all communication signals, awaiting deportation off-world. The Ring of Light shrunk them enough to slip through a crack in the floor of their cell, then returned them to full size afterwards to escape.
Saw Boss and his forces teleported to Epsilon IX, demanding that Jayce be handed over to them. When Saw Boss found out that they League escaped into the War Museum, he ordered the Patriarch to program the computer-controlled museum exhibits to destroy them. Jayce outwitted the museum's "Rollotrons" and summoned the Lightning League vehicles. The League members battled a huge robot powered by vines and some Monster Mind troopers, then made their escape.
The Monster Minds turned against the planet's soldiers in frustration. The poor men huddled in the trenches because they had no idea how to fight the vicious plants, having been taught to battle by rote. Jayce returned, alone, to battle the Monster Minds. The locals were inspired to counterattack by his brave example. The Monster Minds retreated off that world.
The Patriarch promised Jayce that the people of Epsilon IX would patrol the area and send for the current Lightning League if they heard anything about Audric's whereabouts. The last scene showed a new monument placed at the entrance to the War Museum, topped with statues of Jayce, Flora, Gillian, Herc, and Oon standing as a group.
