"The Purple Tome"
(French Title: "The Mauve Manuscript")

Written by Larry DiTillio

The Great Library of Hebron was under attack on all sides by the Monster Minds. Saw Boss was after the Purple Tome -- an ancient book which contained the history and spells of the Ashvar, an ancient civilization that relied almost solely on magic.

The three librarians scrambled to protect the book, their library's greatest treasure. Stafford, an older gentleman with white curly hair and beard, erected and maintained a magical force barrier around the building. Veredia, a young, thin woman with short blonde hair, hid the Tome "in its usual place." Kroth, an ageless salamander-like humanoid with black skin and round glasses, activated the Gem of Sending to contact Jayce in his dreams and ask for his aid. When the force barrier finally fell under the onslaught, the librarians used the Wand of Ashvar to shrink themselves so they could escape.

The Lightning League journeyed to the Library only to find a massive Monster Mind invasion underway. Flora stayed on the Battle Base as backup while the others head out. They entered the Library to battle the enemy troopers, but soon found themselves surrounded. Before the Monster Minds could kill them, they seemingly disappeared into thin air.

In reality, The League had been shrunk by the librarians. Unfortunately, they couldn't reverse the spell -- the Purple Tome was needed for that!

After communications with her friends were cut off, Flora assumed the worst, approaching the Library in Battle Base. At the same time, Trail Blazer became involved in a one-on-one battle with Beast Walker. The Monster Minds' Battle Station literally ran over Trail Blazer, turning it into the largest metal pancake ever, and immobilized Battle Base by knocking it onto its side. Flora, Brock, and the Zoggies escaped and met up with the shrunken League.

Jayce and the League wreaked lilliputian havoc among the Monster Minds by sabotaging them from the inside (i.e. ripping out wires) and leading them into dead ends. While the troopers were distracted, Flora and Brock took Gillian and the Librarians to the Purple Tome. She located the correct spell, which the magic-users promptly cast to restore everybody to full size.

Saw Boss ordered his Battle Station to ram the Library, hoping to destroy it and those inside so he can pick the Tome from the rubble. Jayce called upon the Ring of Light to shrink all the Monster Mind vehicles.

The League then repaired the Great Library, Battle Base, and Trail Blazer while Gillian helped the librarians study the Purple Tome.
