"The Stallions Of Sandeen"
(French Title: "The Horses Of Sandrine")
The Lightning League fought Monster Mind troopers on a distant planet. Just as they got the upper hand, the enemy revealed their new weapon -- Flap Jacks. The Flap Jacks used thermal rays to overheat the League's vehicle engines and one of the the Pride's engines, forcing everyone to retreat into space.
Once they are safely away, Gillian suggested venturing to the world of Sandeen, the one cool planet in a desert galaxy full of twin suns. The reason for this is that Sandeen was rich in amethyst, known as the "Cooling Gem." The League could use this amethyst to shield their vehicles from the Flap Jacks' thermal rays. Herc immediately plotted a course to Sandeen, intending to also mine some amethyst for himself!
Along the way, the League built Fling Shot to combat the Flap Jacks; its Disc Launcher mimicked their ability to fling projectiles. The Pride landed beyond the city of Purple Home and started to mine amethyst in the countryside. They were interrupted by Emperor Ramsey's armored troops, who arrived on bat-winged horses. The League drove them off with the help of Antar and his forces, who rode the Butterfly Stallions. (Lizzard's Note: The Butterfly Stallions are big honkin' Budweiser Beer horses with feathered wings.)
Once the fight was over, Antar told his tale: he was the democratic leader of Sandeen until being overthrown by Ramsey, a power-hungry general. Ramsey declared himself Emperor and threw Antar in jail. The Emperor kept himself in power by using a giant quartz micro-ray, powered by Sandeen's twin suns, to keep order. (Lizzard's Note: Sorry to interrupt again, but does anyone else feel like they're reading the story of "My Little Pony Meets Napoleon?") Antar escaped from the Emperor's prisons and overheard Ramsey making a deal with Saw Boss to capture Jayce.
Jayce came up with a plan -- after the vehicles were triple-shielded with amethyst, the League would distract the Monster Minds and Ramsey's forces while the Butterfly Stallions flew over the micro-ray to block the sunlight. No light, no power! The plan worked perfectly. After the League retreated from the line of fire, the micro-ray was reactivated, blasting the pursuing Monster Mind troopers to give them a taste of their own medicine. Ramsey's soldiers fled, and the Emperor was captured.
The League added solar storage capabilities to the micro-ray so that day or night it can be used against the Monster Minds. Sandeen was freed from tyranny, and Ramsey was sentenced to cleaning out the stables. (Lizzard's Note: And that's a really nasty punishment. I bet those huge horses make huge poops!)
Herc: "I like surprises, but not from Saw Boss!"
Gillian: "I'm afraid our engines cannot withstand the punishment much longer."
Jayce: "Go, Herc, go!"
Herc: "C'mon, baby, they're after your engines! Use 'em or lose 'em!"
Saw Boss: "As I planned -- their only escape is right into my trap!"
Herc: "Gillian, do you know what space pirates do to someone who doesn't return a tool?"
Gillian: "My apologies, Herc, but your wrench has helped to create this double-armored, disc-throwing addition to our weaponry."
Herc: "Well, next time, return my wrench!"
Jayce: "Gillian, don't we have anything that can stop the Monster Minds' thermal ray?"
Gillian: "I'm afraid not."
Herc (sarcastic mode): "Hmph, some wizard."
Gillian (thoughtful): "But, we can get something... amethyst."
Herc (VERY interested): "Amethyst? Ah, the-the gemstone, as in valuable jewel?!"
Gillian: "I see you know your precious stones. Amethyst is the 'Cooling Gem.' It can shield our engines."
Flora: "Ohhh, amethyst! It's so pretty!"
Jayce: "This is a desert galaxy. Look at all those twin suns. These planets are burning up!"
Herc: "Oh swell, we're gonna land in some desert to keep our engines from overheating!"
Gillian: "Patience. Any moment now... that is Sandeen, the one cool planet in this desert galaxy. The reason -- is amethyst. Sandeen is known to wizards as one of the richest deposits of amethyst anywhere."
Jayce: "Herc, set our course for... Herc?"
Herc (over intercom): "I'm on the bridge, kid. Sandeen, here we come!"
(Everyone else LOL)
Jayce (amusedly): "Ha ha, I wonder what makes him wanna go there?"
Flora (excitedly): "Those purple spots away from the city! Aren't they amethyst too, Gillian?"
Gillian (fondly): "Trust the eyes of a child: you're absolutely correct, my dear."
Herc: "Hey, I got nothing against spending a day in the country!"
Herc: "Ahhh, another perfect landing. How DO I do it?"
Gillian: "I present you with Fling Shot. Its Disc-Launcher cue can be used as a suction feed to gather the amethyst we need."
Jayce (awed): "She's beautiful, Gillian! I can't wait to drive her!"
Herc: "Ahhh, you know, kid, it could be a little tricky working a new vehicle the first time, ah... maybe you'd better let me take her out."
Jayce: "So you can mine some amethyst for yourself too?"
Herc (wounded): "Oh, kid. How can you even think that?"
Jayce: "All vehicles, Defense and Retrieval Plan Baker's 7. Let's go!"
(During the mining operation)
Flora: "It's so full of light!"
Herc: "Oh, I could retire on what that's worth!"
Jayce: "Fling Shot, initiate Sequence W!"
Fling Shot: "Command acknowledged! Action being initiated!"
Herc: "Override command! PLEASE, one more minute and I'll be rich!"
