THE ROOT: Wheeled Warriors Vehicles: Battle Base

BATTLE BASE
Toy Made:   Yes
Function According to Toy Box:   Mobile Fighting Fortress
Special Equipment:
- Bridge (AKA Control Deck):
The bridge is the main control center for Battle Base. When attached to the Pride, it serves as the barge's bridge as well. It includes the following features.
- Computer:
Contains data about planets, enemies, and other things.
- Force Field Generator:
Produces a misty white dome of energy to protect Battle Base.
- Helm:
Controls movement for both Battle Base and the Pride. It also sports controls to activate the viewscreens, evaluate the barge's physical status, electrify the hull, and start the hyperdrive. The helm is most famous for being Herc's primary seat, from which he often operates the Pride by punching the control console with his fists.
- Lifeform Detector/Scanner:
Used to electronically scan for specific lifeforms on asteroids, planets, ships, etc. It is virtually useless if the location in question is highly populated, such as a jungle, because it cannot separate the overlapping lifeform signatures.
- Space Scanner:
A radio-like device that picks up vocal transmissions from other planets.
- Sub-Stations:
Individual consoles scattered around the bridge in the area forward of the helm. Mainly used to access the computer and perform scans.
- Viewscreen - Forward (AKA Holographic Viewer or Monitor):
Large center monitor used to display computer information, video camera scenes from the Pride's interior, and video camera scenes from outside the ship.
- Viewscreen - Rear:
Displays video camera scenes from behind Battle Base, as though it were a rearview mirror.
- Viewscreens - Side:
Mainly used to display computer information. Can also be used to display video camera scenes from the interior of the Pride.
- Labs:
Battle Base contains numerous small scientific labs.
- Laser Cannons:
Multiple laser cannons are scattered over the outside hull.
- Motor Module:
Small wheeled vehicle that can be launched from Battle Base to make repairs in the field. It responds to verbal commands.
- Outside Elevator:
A small panel elevator that operates on Battle Base's left front exterior corner. It is dangerous to use during battle as it leaves its occupants exposed.
- Ramps:
Two ramps can be lowered from Battle Base's left side to launch and pick up vehicles and/or people.
- Storage Bay:
Large room located behind the ramps that can be used to store the wheeled vehicles.
- Telescoping Gun Turret:
Rising from one corner of Battle Base, this turret allows a single person to shoot two laser cannons at the enemy. It is grey in color and is topped with a small glass dome. The laser cannons are black. In the first half of the television series, a panel slides out of the way to allow the turret to rise. In the latter half of the series, the entire upper corner rises (as it does on the toy). The turret can also be operated via remote control.
Appearance:
Battle Base is large, heavily-armored and heavily-armed box on tank treads. It is a tan color and has light blue accents and the Lightning League symbol on the front. It also has tan and black laser cannons and black and grey treads. (Lizzard's Note: Yes, it really is this ugly. What was Gillian thinking?)
History:
Battle Base was created by Gillian in the episode Escape from the Garden.
Battle Base is often used to transport the smaller Lightning League vehicles, which brings it into the occasional battle. However, it is most often seen in the series when it is being used as the Pride's bridge.
Herc usually pilots Battle Base, both when it is attached to the barge and when it is operating independently. Others who have operated Battle Base include Flora, Gillian, Jayce, and Princess Malayla.
