THE ROOT: Wheeled Warriors Vehicles: Drill Sergeant
|
DRILL SERGEANT
Toy Made:   Yes
Function According to Toy Box:   Escape Artist
Special Equipment:
- Back Vents:
These emit a grey smoke screen that allows the vehicle to escape pursuers. If a Stack 'N' Attack Skid Gun is installed in the vents, skid liquid can be squirted onto the path behind the vehicle to trip up any remaining troopers.
- Electromags:
These devices disrupt holograms and enemy electronics.
- Magnetizer Ray:
Anything hit by this ray becomes a magnet, pulling other metallic objects towards it. This ray is used against Monster Mind vehicles with great efficiency.
- Side Panel:
Located on Drill Sergeant's left side, this panel houses the controls that open the cockpit.
- Super Drill:
Drill Sergeant sports a large drilling prosthesis on its roof. This device can be used as a weapon as well as a tunneling apparatus. The drill rests on a platform that can be moved back and forth. The drill itself can be rotated and angled in almost any direction.
Appearance:
Drill Sergeant looks like a bizarre hybrid of drilling machine and alien beetle. It has a wide, light tan body with a silver drill, light blue dual-bubble glass canopy, two grey side guns, and four thick grey wheels. There are vents in the back panel of the vehicle. The cockpit has two side-by side seats, each with its own individual steering wheel, circular computer tracking screen, and console with various buttons and blinking lights. The vehicle can be driven from either seat.
History:
Drill Sergeant was created by Gillian the episode Escape from the Garden.
The vehicle is primarily used by the Lightning League to create escape routes via tunneling underground, burrowing into mountains, breaking through walls, etc. Drill Sergeant is also often used to trap Monster Minds by digging beneath the enemy troops and collapsing the ground on which they stand. Flora and Gillian are the usual drivers of this vehicle.
In the fifth episode of the Liberty Stone miniseries, Drill Sergeant was the only vehicle that escaped from Vantu's pyramid undamaged.
