FLAP JACK

Toy Made:   No

Function:   Combat Vehicle

Special Equipment:

  • Thermal Rays: These red beams can overheat vehicle engines. They are fired from a gun positioned above the head.

  • Throwing Arms: Two vine-shaped arms, one below the mouth and the other toward the rear of the vehicle, are used to throw projectiles great distances. The following types of projectiles are used in conjunction with the throwing arms.

    • Blossom Pods: These pods stick to any object they hit. After a short gestation period, the pods transform into blossoms that give birth to Monster Mind troopers.

    • Energy Disks: These yellow and orange circular disks explode like bombs upon impact. The force of these explosions is powerful enough to knock vehicles off their tracks.

    • Explosives: The explosives cause much larger detonations than those caused by the energy disks. They look like navy-blue spheres with spikes.

Appearance:

Flap Jack looks like a hideous armored box. It is dark blue in color. Flap Jack has two circular, yellow, bugged-out eyes with black pupils, a white saw-toothed grin, and two slender green flexible stalks that are used as throwing arms. A channel used to generate energy disks runs the length of the body. Flap Jack sports a blue laser gun above the head that it used to fire thermal rays. The vehicle moves on six black wheels.

History:

Flap Jack is mainly used for specialized projects and attacks.

The trooper first appeared in Stallions of Sandeen, causing the Lightning League untold trouble by overheating their engines with thermal rays. The problem was remedied when the League installed amethyst shielding on the vehicles. A squad of Flap Jacks flung Blossom Pods onto the Pride's hull in Lifeship, enabling the Monster Minds to infiltrate the Edro Lifeship by stowing away on the barge. In the same episode, Flap Jack troopers shot energy disks at the League vehicles, blowing them right off their tracks. A similar squad of Flap Jacks in Squiresmith Wixland seriously injured the ancient dragon Heartfire. Flap Jacks took out the League's rear guard in Dreamworld.

Flap Jack is not one of the original Monster Minds created by radiation in Audric's lab. It was created by the Monster Minds themselves later in the series. It has no humanoid form, as it is merely a living weapon -- a very useful one, at that.
